The Meraner Weg or the west ridge on the Ortler is certainly the technically easiest but also the route with the most metres in altitude.
day 1
Individual journey to St. Three Fountains in Trafoi (1580 m). Ascent to the Bergler hut (2188 m) 1.5 h.
day 2
Summit ascent 1720 m approx. 5 h. Climbing difficulty UIAA 3+; descent approx. 3 h to the Payerhütte. Descent to the valley, past the Berglerhütte (another 3.5 h). Possibly 3rd day for the descent
