"On the king's head". This tour takes you up the second highest, but perhaps most beautiful and imposing mountain in South Tyrol. It really isn't a hike, but a mountain climb. The snowshoes serve the purpose and are ideal for reaching this mountain.
day 1
Individual or shared journey from Bressanone or Bolzano to Santa Caterina di Valfurva.
Wonderful ascent via the Forni valley to the high alpine Pizzini hut (2706 m).
Ascent approx. 540 hm approx. 2 h.
day 2
Ascent over the Cedec Ferner to the lower shoulder.
From here continue with crampons along firn flanks up to 45° steep to the upper shoulder and on to the summit ridge. Shortly to the summit. We then take the same route back.
After refreshments at the hut, we return to the valley
1100 hm ascent approx. 4.5 h
